Peru & Toledo (6/2 - 6/11)
« on: May 30, 2017, 12:06:41 PM »
Hey,

I know a few folks on here are going. Anyone trying to meet up or do anything while we're there?

I'll be staying in Toledo this Thursday (6/1) on my way to Peru. Ben E (blue Focus RS guy) and I have a hotel in Kokomo - but outside of doing a handful of test & tune runs on Friday, we have no plans. Anyone interested in food/drinks/anything Friday or Saturday nights?

As for the Toledo ProSolo - Toledo is my hometown, haha. I'll actually be in town Thursday through Monday. Definitely need to hit up some authentic Mexican while I'm there (maybe Friday night 6/9)? Me, my wife, and Noah F are staying in Maumee. If anyone wants to do anything, hit me up.

I'm almost certainly getting tacos with the Detroit region weirdos that I know for the Toledo Pro at some point.

Where are you going for tacos? San Marcos is incredible (and their frozen margs are ruthless). I've heard Cilantro's is supposed to be good, as well as Carlos' Poco Loco but have yet to try either. All 3 are downtown-ish. Glad to see good new spots opening up outside of the Dirty South area of Toledo - that place was a shithole 15 years ago and has only gotten worse.

El Salto in Maumee is decent too, but I've been there so many times.

Not sure if anyone cares, but here was my best run from Peru. Probably left another tenth or 2 out there on the 2nd to last turn, but I was still well over a full second behind the leader. FWD (and FWD biased AWD cars) as well as heavy cars didn't perform well on the course to the point you saw ES being consistently faster than FS. GS, HS, and CAM-C all had rough outings too.

Either way, it was still a fun course - and thanks to Ben for letting me borrow his SoloStorm.

Long sweepers are great for ES because you never have to lift.  They suck for FS (especially when there's a tight element at the end of them) because you constantly have to play this game of chicken with rear tire grip and your throttle...at high speeds.

I know more than a handful of us are doing the Toledo Pro. What time is everyone showing up Friday?

I'm leaving at around 8:30 or 9:30 am.  I hope to be at the site by around 2:30 so I can unload my car, get registered and teched, then do some (hopefully dry) practice starts.

Derpstang was awesome!

Also, super frustrated with my car lately, haha. Typed a big long thing, but figured it might be better to make a new thread.
