Saturday at Pittrace.  Saturday was interesting.  Fun part was being part of the group that had to pick these cars out of the wall lol.

Howdy,

Mark

To prove I'm stronger than a Miata.  That was my only motivation to get run over.  8)

No what actually happened was first session of the day (this isn't the video above that was the race Saturday afternoon) a Miata shot off turn 3 and tapped the wall down below.  No real damage so me & Larry told him put the car in reverse we'll push you back so you can go on your way.  The hill off the 3 was a total mud pit any grass that was there is pretty much gone.  Grabbed onto the passenger side of the cage through the window and Larry on the drivers side.  I was uphill from the Miata as I was pushing.  Car started to move backwards slowly when my footing gave way and being uphill from the car my right leg slid under it.  Front wheel bumps over my calf (which was flat against the ground) and keep slowly rolling backwards.  I knew what happened but didn't really feel any pain.  It happened in the span of less than a second or two.  Wanted to get the F out of there because another Miata missed the turn and passed between the car we were pushing and Larry's truck.  Pushed the Miata far enough back and he took off.  Ran back to the truck and go the F outta there.  Pulled off by station 6 when I finally broke the news to Larry I was run over lol.  Felt like a charlie horse or rug burn.  End of session got checked out and the ambulance.  Nothing but a red mark and real light swelling.  Between my leg being flat against the mud and Miata's being light I got off easy.  It's not even bruised I can't even feel it when I'm walking.  Hell I was running across the South Paddock later that day to wave some cars into the Pits.  So yea it was just me being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I'm glad I can sit here and joke about what happened to me.  To be totally honest me getting run over wasn't even the worst thing that happened this weekend.  Thankfully SCR has a damn good worker base to deal with weekends like this.  That video above was just unfortunate, but thankfully everyone was ok.

Brian, is a heck of a driver, but there was a lot of luck in the mix too. I need to hire him for another coaching session on how to avoid wrecks.

A newbie autocrossser takes no more than one 45 second run to learn that with a track temp in the 40 degree range, even the best tires aren't going to stick.  The road racers, especially the Spec Miata group hasn't wrapped their heads around that idea as yet.

There is also a racing truism that you don't win a race in the first couple of laps, but you sure can loose it.  The Spec Miata guys haven't figured that out either.

As to the fire, John Heinricy and his A/Sedan Firebird handled that all by himself.

Lorenzo the Scribe.
