Just heard something today...

The presidents trip (India and etc.) will cost over $200 million a day. 

 I heard today that people buy MR2's to compensate for their extreme gullibility.  But who could believe such an obvious falsehood?

You are right Dan. I think I need to buy another MR2 to add to my gullibility. 

I didn't state it as fact b/c I was unsure of the figure my self. I said that I only heard about it.

The problem is this fabrication is being spread around the right-wing world like wildfire.  And because one of them heard it or read it from another, it's passed on like fact.  That nut-job Bachmann said it on TV, Limbaugh has said it, Beck has said it.  They all feed of each other, and if you hear something enough it becomes taken as fact, even when it's not.  If I got enough people to tell you water is supposed to be brown, someone might start to believe it.

It's sickening to me to think that nobody cares to check on these things.  I about feel out of my chair when John Boehner was asked how they were going to cut the deficit and all he kept saying was "cut taxes".  Then he was put on the spot and asked how cutting taxes was going to cut the deficit, where was the money going to come from.  His answer was "don't play that Washington game".  Really?  That's a valid answer?  I guess to some it is. 

Here is a news flash.  If tax monies go down, you have to cut that same amount of money out of the budget to balance that change.  Add to that they want to "cut spending" but never say how or where, and that's a problem.  ANYONE who can add and subtract should know this and be wondering what the proposed answer is.  But, apparently you don't really care that much.  You hear "tax cut and spend less and cut the deficit", yet only one of those 3 things ever happens with the right-wing---the one that just makes the other two even more difficult to accomplish. 

Please, do everyone a favor and don't take what you hear as the gospel truth until it can be confirmed but an independent source.  This $200 million a day thing is a flat-out fucking lie that someone made up.  Who?  Beats me.  Why?  I'd guess to scare folks and what better way than to act like a 12 year old and lie about something.

I think the 200 million thing is a failure to consider just what currency we were talking about.  If some Indian official said "Obama's trip will cost 200 million a day" -- 200 Million Indian rupees is about, what, $4.5 million US? 

That's SEVEN AND A HALF GOLD BARS PER DAY!

Sam you mean like global warming? People have said it enough that people believe that crap.  Raising tax rates does not mean the government will bring in more money.  Higher taxes will only make the economy worse and you will have less money to tax.  Even crazy liberal want to extend the bush tax cuts now you know the middle class ones that didn't exist since bush only cut taxes for the rich.
