SCCA Banquet Attire
« on: January 15, 2012, 10:53:32 AM »
Anyone going to the banquet that is going to dress in the "Italian" attire? We are contemplating doing it, but all I could come up with is Mafia/Gangster related or possibly a chef or a ventian gondaleir. The Mafia does sound the neatest, but thought maybe someone else has other/better ideas. Any Thoughts?

Howdy,

My thought is that I'm not cool enough to dress like a Mafia guy, so I'm going to dress like me.  I'm part Italian, so I figured that was good enough.  :-)

This is a good reminder though... SCR Banquet!  Come get your award for the season or cheer for folks that did.  Plus lots of doorprizes (can you say "hoosiers"?).

Banquet registration form is on the front page of the SCR website.  http://www.steelcities-scca.org/.  Or for the lazy, http://www.steelcities-scca.org/Banquet/2012_SCR_Banquet.pdf

Call Bridget if you're worried about the deadline passing... I'm sure they can take more people.

See you all there!

You got the the not cool enough part right, but seriously, anyone else going to to dress? I dont want to be the only fool there that looks like I can be a hitman!

I'm sure that the Connelly's will be dressed, as well as Paula and some others.  I'd say to go for it.

If I had anything that anyone would think of as "mobster", I'd wear it.  :-)

see, to me ( because i'm not wired right ) I was thinking Roman ... Rome is in Italy...

Kim and I talked about it over the weekend. We're still thinking about it, but I couldn't get her to dress like those "Mob wives" ( too much makeup, bad hair, trashy looks ) like you saw in Goodfellas and so on..

It's too cold for roman warrior dress or even roman senators with just sheets on.

So, we're not sure how it will play out. Seeing that we're going to an Italian place, I don't want to offend the cook and end up with a horse head on my plate.

Growing up with grandparents who lived in Bloodfield.  None of you have what it takes to dress like real Italians.  Most everyone in this tread is too tall, not fat enough, doesn't wear suspenders, and don't wave their hands around enough when they talk.  ;D

My big Italian family ( Grandmother's maiden name is Martinelli ) grew up on the west end and still live there. Was looking at pictures of my Great-grandparents the other day for ideas... and Chris kinda nailed it with the description.

My uncle Reno was more modern wearing sweats and gold chains and spent most of his time @ Trader Jacks.

I had an Uncle Primo (past away) - no, I don't know his real name - everybody called him Primo.
Nobody new what Uncle Primo did for a living.  He always had a brand new caddy and he smoked
expensive cigars.  I never saw anybody talk about work with Primo.  Never.
Maybe that is why I am still here.

The Hill Family is all going to dress for the event. We will be your typical crime-mobster family. I just bought Halloween outfits that can I can re-use for Halloween.

If there's room with your "family" at the table, save a couple seats for Kim and I please.
