Thanks for posting the pictures up, Ethan. I'll have Travis check it out and see if he wants to buy one or both pair.

Mark A.  Does your vett transmision have the skip shift feature that will only allow shifts from 1st to 4th during slow speeds and lite throttle?

So, I caved.  I bought a supercharger.  Just a stock eaton M62, but man, I was offered one helluva deal on it.   Hopefully will be installed and tuned by the end of the month.

No, i'm running Road America with NARRA. (the rich guys! lol). Their contingency is actually better then NASA. They pay out 2 tires for only 3 people in class and with 5 they pay out 1 for 2nd.  My NASA schedule looks like Autobahn again in July and then the descision weather to do mid-ohio in August with the intent of going to Nationals.

Howdy,

Be sure and post up what you think of Road America...  that's a damned cool track and you should have the HP to make it "interesting" in a few spots.  :-)

Take plenty of brakes.

I will! I'm very excited to race a 4.xx mile track. I hear that its the longest straight's followed by the tightest turns. I have also been warned about the brakes. I have a new set of Hawk DTC-70's on the car. That was mostly becuase i only had a mm thickness and 80% surface area left on the pads i used at Autobahn.  :-[.

I think i should be over 150 on the track on both long straights. That will be a bit faster then i'm use too.

You work out more/better brake cooling too?

Howdy,

Yeah, middle straight and back straight you go from whatever your top speed is down to "pretty slow".  Front straight its from top speed to "reasonably quick corner".  If you have brake issues, I think this track will likely show them to you.

Track's not too bad to learn.  Only blind thing is turn 6 (?? I think that's it... Up the hill after the middle straight and under the bridge).  Other than that just bring some balls.

Watch out for the Kink, most times people aren't this lucky, at about 20 seconds in...  Have fun, the track is awesome!

I had a eureka moment today while installing an oil cooler...

Rewind to the TT @ PIRC... I noticed that fast transitions from WOT to braking would cause the brake pedal to feel rock hard, and it would take a second before the brakes would start to work. It caused a few slight pucker moments, but nothing serious. When I checked over the brakes everything appeared to be good, so I just got used to the hesitation and figured I'd investigate more later.

Well today, as I was staring at the engine bay waiting for the oil to warm up after installing the new oil cooler I noticed that the previous owner had installed a "T" into the brake booster vacuum line for the boost gauge

and then it hit me! I've heard that its common for guys who swap V8's into Miata's to replace the vacuum line going to the brake booster, not realizing it has a hidden check valve inside to ensure the booster is always under vacuum, even when there isn't vacuum in the manifold... The previous owner must have made the same mistake when installing the "T"! Its a perfect explanation for why the brakes felt rock hard; the booster was seeing positive pressure instead of vacuum! So I yanked off the line and sure enough; no check valve.

It made my day  ;D

How did the oil cooler install go? Did you end up getting everything you listed in that other thread?
