Howdy,

The number idea sounds good to me. I definitely agree that something needs to be done about the line. I can say that I would be MUCH more likely to attend these if we had some sort of grid system. The line sucks. Can't use time in between runs to tweak the car, or catch ride-alongs with other drivers, or just walk around and BS.

So, thinking about this more... #'s on post its kinda suck in terms of "no easy way to see if you're cheating".

How about colored stick on dots on the windshield?

And say we group cars into groups of ten.  One run or two runs per car before the next group?  Ten cars at about 45 seconds per run for two runs is about 15 minutes per group.

Another thought.  See if the track will let us paint permanent grid spots?  They would get dual use from both SCR and the low key events?

Wouldn't surprise me if they would.  I can bring it up with DJ.  But its probably not all that much use for the lowkey events, I don't think.

Colored dots would work, or window paint numbers on. Two runs per group is a good idea. Less wasted time switching groups.

If you had permanent grid spots, and made people park in their spot, it would make it easy to tell if someone was cheating.

Since there's no worker changeover, there should be absolutely no time wasted switching groups.  We'll feed in the next group (via PA announcement) before the first one is done.

In my head, there will still be a line, but it'll be ten cars or less and when its not your turn to run, you won't have to be up at the top of the hill slowly inching forward for a half hour.

Who's in for Thursday? I can't wait. My maiden voyage in this car. Still need to get tires mounted and the front of the car raised a bit, but I'm really excited. I'm trying to talk Brianna into coming and driving too.

I'll be there.  I think we'll actually get the car over there and scuff in the A6's.  I may put the XS's on it and get a little seat time as well, just to try and dial in my brain.  Of course, all that is secondary to running the event.

For this one we're also going to try the new "assign a group" thing to better deal with larger #'s of folks showing up.  When you register (most likely, possibly when you get over to the VDA) you'll either get a little sticker or perhaps you'll get a different colored wrist band that will put you in one of three groups.  If the run line starts getting full, we'll switch over to running each group for two runs at a time, then the next group, etc.  Goal is to keep it lowkey / easy to understand, but not have people having to inch forward in line for 1/2 an hour.  And yes, if you have two drivers you'll get two group assignments.

Have you ever run the XSs and A6s in the same day before (curious as to approx. time difference).

No.  I may try that at some event this year.  For Thursday though, the A6's are new and I'm only going to be doing a minor heat cycle on them.

If you're there by 3pm or 4pm, that'll be fine.  Starts at 4pm.  And I'll need to know your shirt size for one of the spiffy new "autox staff" shirts.

I would like to know how, but I'll leave it to Mark - I'm kind of working for him, but it there is time I'd like to know more about running it.

Chris/frank/kristi/mark - were the jackasses doing donuts in the lower circle of the drive up to PIR gone by the time you left? When I left there were three or four cars just sitting there and you could see a ton of smoke, tire marks, and smell tires. I said something to them but I doubt it did anything...

I didn't see this yesterday.  Ron, you're welcome to do anything like this.  You're not working for me, you're helping me out and not getting paid.  There's a big difference.  :-)
