Clones - this is getting crazy
« on: April 08, 2012, 11:11:59 AM »
Just sold three more Clone packages this weekend - this is going to be crazy if everyone shows up! I think there are 30+ karts on the ground now.

Just got two Birel R30 trade-ins that we are putting together as soon as we can get some more engines in stock. Here is what we have:

Birel R30 - C-Brake and full plastic bumper with a new blueprinted engine - $1950.
Birel R30 - B-Brake and steel bumper with a fresh blueprinted engine - $1500
Birel R30 - B-Brake and steel bumper with a new blueprinted engine - $1750
Birel R30 - C-Brake, front hubs and full steel bumper with a new blueprinted engine - $2150
Monza Z32 - C-brake, front hubs, XL seat and steel bumper with a new blueprinted engine - $2350 (great big boned kart...)
Kosmic T-11 - with a fresh blueprinted engine - $1250

Hmmm.... going to have to rethink my strategy which was likely to only race, and focus on the kids throughout the day.  Not sure coming from 30 deep is going to win me any points. Though my race craft would get a workout.

This is definitely going to be crazy.  Not just the numbers of karts, but the names of guys being added to the group.  I can't wait to hear the rumbling of the motors as we go two by two for the start.

We'd prefer if the slow drivers keep their eyes ahead when we are lapping them Paul...... 8)

Another new one - Bob from our shop is buying the Kosmic now that another customer moved from that to a Birel after he ran a few laps in one today.  He loved it.

Paul,  I'll be sure to put a number on the back of my kart for you.   My guess is Krista will be fast.  Tom T.  looked pretty impressive last year for being a rookie.   Bob Sidel was fast.   Mike G.   Johnathan D.    I am trying to get Jimmy Stoicovy back on my team this year.   He only race once last year.   I will be glad to finish top 10.   I will be rooting for John Burton.   He will probably be the oldest guy in the class, but wouldn't surprise me if he pulls off a win or two.

I think WKA has started 42 in the past.  That would be a site at a club race! :o

I am #72. How do I lock that in somewhere?

I Am #10 since we are locking in numbers.  61, 36, 8, 7, 007,  3 are also on karts right now.   We never had a reserved number policy, but it might be a good idea.  Any body takes my number and they will have trouble in the tech barn.

Actually we do - returning racers in class get first shot at their number. Then the rest get their turn based on the order they either sign up for memberships or enter a race.

So if you have a number you want and you have a membership application in, shoot Jamie an e-mail and ask her to add your requested number to the sheet.

Email sent.

I think I should be fine, as I believe I reviewed the results from last year for all the numbers and classes that we were running before ordering our decals. But with this many clones, I just want to be safe.

Hearing all this talk about clones I can't help but keep thinking about this quote:

A place to pick a number needs to be added to the form.    I say we go with seniority in cases of conflict.   Whoever has the most 4 cycle races at PRK gets priority.

This is what I was basing my choices off of, knowing of the "prior year racers of the class had first choice": http://www.tracksideresults.com/beaverun/seriespoints.asp?s=1&c=all&r=pts

Based on that list, I have to change my number.  So I will go with 63.  And, Ron your number is X.   Should be easy to make with Duct Tape.

What I did was I chose numbers that were NOT used in the classes that my karts are going into to avoid any conflicts. Barry, aren't you the Clone director? One would think you could rule with an iron fist and make any number you want yours ;D

The 'x' is likely b/c I was in a rental. My Kart "will have" a 72 on it for the first event, that much I know ::)

Well maybe I could make life hard in tech, but... the only reason I picked 10 was because I was supporting Danica Patrick who also used to race a Coyote.  It is joke between John C and I who are both on Coyotes.  My kart last year was #8 and was driven by at least 6 different drivers (thus the number of people with the number 8).  I will keep that number for my guest drivers.   I don't care what number I am.  I Just don't want to have to change once I stick them on.  Just don't pick #7. I don't know how we will sort that on out.  There were a lot of different #7s and they were all different karts.
