Not MY car.

a guy I know from the Corvette club has an 08 Z06 and is wanting to get some work done on his heads and asked me about a place that can be trusted to work on them.

Anyone have a good shop that they'd trust that knows the modern GM setups?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I take all my head work to Jacksons Machine Shop outside Kittanning PA.  Couple of rednecks work there but they do heads for a lot of high power tractor pull motors.  Prices are where machine work should be you're not paying for the High profile name.  All my heads from them have made over 700 crack hp.

What else is this friend planning to do?  I am as ghetto as they come and I wouldn't be trusting anyone local that I know of to do serious port work on some pricey ridiculously good from the factory LS7 heads.

I guess I didn't read his post as "portwork"  I was under the assumption it was typical head work stuff.

Honestly I was just assuming that based on it being so new.

knowing this guy... he already has a cam in it and CAI and exhuast... sounds like he's looking more like new valve seats, maybe springs, and a basic refreshening.

Maybe ask him what he wants done so we can give a decent suggestion?   ;D

Ok, from what I've gathered, there's no 'headwork' that needs / wants done.

He says the car smokes @ startup and feels it's the valves or guides. ( his words not mine ).

He's looking for a shop to either remove the heads and do the work and re-install them or at least to do the work if he removes the heads.

Wants them checked out and any maintenance that looks like it needs done, wants it done.

My post stands if he removes the heads.

Thanks Kurt,

I'm still getting info from him, but I think he's leaning towards taking them off himself and having someone do them. Honestly I'm not sure just how tech savvy he is, so not sure about his comfort with taking them off himself.

I used KMP performance in Russelton Pa. His crew actually won "One Lap of America" a few years back in a Camaro. He did my Camaro heads and I have no complaints.
