Evo Shootout Event - Dover Delaware - 6-29 thru 7-1-12
« on: May 01, 2012, 08:15:39 AM »
Ok, so for anyone that DID take the Evo school this year you hear about it, but for those of you that didn't ...

Evolution is helping to put these on and they just had the 1st one in Charlotte the weekend of our school. They sound like a blast and there's even $ and prizes to be had.

Just curious if anyone's thinking about going? I'm debating going and probably will if I can find a roomie to share cost of the hotel.

Similar to a pro event where you get 4 runs on day one and they take the top 32 in PAX... then a last chance qualifying set of runs on Sunday AM... they take the top 4 ladies in PAX and then take another group from the LCQ heats... and then just like a pro solo, they take the remaining spots via 'pull a name from a hat'.

think of a bracket system like the NCAA tourny.... 4 run heats and then they keep whittling it down to 16, 8 and then 4.

Top 4 get $ it sounds like and door prizes are given away thru the event as well.

I did the Tour there last year and it's a nice big area. The region did a good job hosting it and the area is nice. Since you're @ a NASCAR site, there's plenty to eat and places to stay.

The grip was nice for asphalt but got a little gritty off-line on the later heats.

Just be careful HOW you get there... the way my Garmin took me last time cost me a fortune in tolls going thru Maryland... all because of the tire trailer. I think it took me 5+ hours to get there or so.

So now I have a decision to make....

go to the evo shootout in Dover in June, or go to Peru for the national tour in August.

The drive is similar, the costs are similar....

The only difference is that if you don't make the challenge tournament, your day is done Sunday morning.

Howdy,

Brian, if I had to choose between those two, I'd pick the shootout for sure.  Tours suck.

Agreed, though we are also going to Peru...   :-\   Dover is supposed to be a great site, heard nothing but good things about it.

I am going to Peru as well, the challenge event does sound interesting to add to the mix.

Great to hear that Dan, hopefully Joe is joining you.  It'll be fun to have you guys there and hoping more SCR folks will attend. We should all try to do dinner there since we didn't have time to hang out at DC...

I will be at this event as well... I was scheduled to go to the Concord one at ZMax but the broken diff on the car prevented that.

I will be at Dover.  I ran the Tour last year (not in the DSP car... broken then as well... Damn ProSolos) but in an ST Civic and the course was fun, fast, and entertaining.

I am looking forward to attending the Evo Shootout.   I like the format.

Yeah, I really liked the lot there last year. A little bumpy in spots, but not too bad. They did a good job of avoiding those kinda things.

Looks like I won't be going.  Just too much going on around that time.
