Which wheels did you go with?

Boy, I'd been hoping to get more front camber than that...  You've maxed it out legally at this point, right?

I really didn't want to mess with spacers and pickings are pretty slim right now in a 17x7 5x100 ET42.  Motegi traklites (forged, ~14.5 lb) are probably the best reasonably priced option functionally, but I couldn't tolerate the looks even for events and driving to/from.  I ended up with Velox VX6R - cast, 15.4-15.6 lb on my scale.

Aside from somehow obtaining the drawings for the knuckle/strut/etc and making sure all my parts are ground to the maximum tolerance allowed on those drawings, yep, I'm maxed out AFAIK.

...  Dan didn't have a good weekend either - especially that part where he watched some dufus hit the timer with HIS new corvette.  ...

Speaking of watching dufuses (dufi?) - Vicki and I had an interesting moment on her very first run in the BRZ where the miata released before her decided the course wasn't long enough and started heading out toward her end of the site!  Quick work by the course workers got them both under control without any real incident, but it was enlivening, nonetheless.

Dan had another moment like this also.  That purple 911 that was having massive issues with staying on course on Sunday did something that slowed him down way over by the terminal section.  I was watching Dan's car heading for me, and as it passed the first crossover the 911 was just barely making it through the 2nd crossover a few yards away.  Had I caught that I would have red flagged Dan it was way too close for comfort.  But they were short on workers so a lot of the stations only had 1 person.  I wasn't going to turn my back on car barreling towards me just so I could check out the far side of the course.  But still it wasn't ideal sometimes if the first car on course got behind and the 2nd car was much faster.  Of course that happens down there, you have to learn to be aware of stuff like that.  I worked with a new guy Saturday that forgot we were next to a crossover and almost ran out directly in front of Jay's car had I not stopped him.  He was much more aware after that lol.

John I think you & Vicki did really well for being out for so long and not being use to RWD.  You car was definitely making up time through the two crossovers you could see the nose was changing direction pretty quickly relative to some of the other cars that came through.  Hopefully we see more the car at SCR this year  :)  BTW they added a photo of your car to the event page (as well as some other photos in a pair of links near the bottom).

Also to touch on what Joe said about sound.  Yea I think SS cars are a good thing to take to cumberland.  Both Dan's vette & Jay's GT3 were way up into 2nd gear down there and howling around the course.  Despite being tight in some spots that was one of faster courses we've had the car on.  Despite not giving the best performance it was a good learning experience.

Howdy,

Fourth heat saw an interesting battle in the jam-packed Super Stock class, between Steeltown’s Randy Pearson, in his born-in- the USA Z06, and Jay Gyger, running Chris Carlisle’s bright red sausage- burning GT3 Porsche. Pearson (and America) won SS class and the Stock category handily, with a 69.47 to Gyger’s 71.1. Pearson’s sub-70 second lap also won him PAX victory for the day.

I was working corner 1 when Vicki was headed towards the crossover, I was watching her and didnt realize the Miata was going for another round until I heard the call for red flag. I worked that corner by myself, there should have been 2 people there, it was a busy area.

My close call, with me being VERY late and sloppy around the first pivot.  Had that been cleaner it could've even been closer.
