Wellsboro Rally

z28jeff:
The Susquehannock Trail Rally is this weekend up in Wellsboro, PA.   http://www.rally-america.com/events/2012/STPR/
Eric and I are going to check it out and do some mountain biking while we're up there. I've been to Wellsboro many times, but never for the rally. Has anybody been to this that would have some advice on where would be a good place to spectate? I think I remember Scott Nogrady going to this a few years ago, anyone else?
I hear Travis Pastrana is playing with a 2013 Dodge Dart rally car for Red Bull. Maybe he'll be up there.  :-\

Foz:
Pastrana won't be there...

visit stpr.org before you leave, and download the spectator guide.  (I'm not sure if it's up yet)

Friday is typically a "VIP" pass only spectator stages, meaning that you have to pay to get to the stages to watch.

Saturday will have a number of stages you can watch, and the spectator guide will show you all of the spots.  If you don't see it... don't fear you can grab one from the Wellsboro fairgrounds, which is the main base for the rally.

I'm hoping to drive out for the weekend, but it looks like a sudden work commitment might keep me home.  I've got my fingers crossed it doesn't... Either way, enjoy!

We go every year.  It looks like they have gone back to selling the spectator guide exclusively at the event instead of making it available online.  If you are bringing your bikes you have the advantage of being able to show up to the spectator areas on the later side and avoid the long hikes on foot from where you park.  The earlier you get there the better your spot though.  We try to be at least an hour ahead of the first car through.  Plan where you want to be as soon as you get the guide as some of the spectator areas are an hour travel time in between.

Wave if you see us, we'll be in this:

I was wondering about this, thanks for mentioning it.

We're driving up tomorrow morning, but don't really plan to check out the race till Saturday. So it sounds like I should go to the fairgrounds tomorrow afternoon and pick up a spectator guide to figure out where I want to be Saturday?
Any stages in particular I don't want to miss? I saw Asaph on the list. I've been there before. That's a narrow dirt road that goes up the mountain right? That would be cool to see.
We're not leaving till Monday, so we'll let the weather decide when we can mountain bike ride. Hopefully Sunday is decent.
There's supposed to be some nice single track trails in the Asaph area, and one of the places I wanted to ride. Will this still be open for riding, or closed off because of the rally?

Foz:
If you hit the fairground Friday night, you may be able to still see the "super special stage"  which is the RallyCross portion of the event.  Last year the ran it last in the day both Friday and Saturday, with larger crowd on Saturday.

If you stick around on Sunday, you can run your car on the special stage with CNY SCCA group as a rally cross :)

last minute circumstances are keeping me at home, but you will see a number of Pittsburgh faces there...
