Wireless Timing Documentation for PHA Events

(1/1)

gdh57:
Cross posting from the PHA Forum, since some of you asked for this:

Dale has added the wireless timing documents to the PHA Website. They can be found under courses link for each event site.

The documents include:
A short overview on the timing system and setup tasks
A complete reference that contains details on how the system works, details instructions for setup, and details for each site
A document for each site that just contains information relevant to that site (ex: mast location, height, antenna direction, cabling, etc.) - note that this information is also included in the complete reference

I welcome constructive feedback from anyone that needs to use these documents to set up the timing system at an event site, especially on clarity of the instructions or suggestions for simplifying the hardware / antenna installation process.

PS We don't use the wireless system at Jefferson yet due to AxWare software limitations. While it has a mode that allows us to use a single sensor for both the start and finish line, it is not designed to handle our of mode of operation where we continuously insert cars so that 3 are on track at all times. Ask Nelson some time what he thinks of it  ;D
